Letter from the Secretariat
On behalf of the APL MUN Organising Committee, it is our honour to welcome you to APL Model United Conference 19. APL MUN has been the starting of many of our debating careers. It over the years has enriched us with not only knowledge, but also provided an environment for us to improve upon our oration and diplomacy. Standing by this, this year’s organising committee has worked tirelessly to create such an environment for all. Our commitment to this, is reflected in the six committees we have this year and their respective agendas: UNSC, UNDP, DISEC, ECOSOC, IPC, and HRC. We have handpicked topics that will test all, allow for input from each and every delegate, and prompt pertaining internal questions. Our goal is for the development of every delegate in the two days of discussion and debate we have.
We hope that APL MUN will bring you the same empowerment and insight that it has given us. If you have any further inquiries please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are excited to embark on this amazing journey with you, and look forward to seeing you at APL MUN Conference 19.
Secretary General, Udit Samant
Director General, Niranjan Rajesh
Meet the Team
Udit Samant is a brilliant orator and a fierce debater. Often found rambling about the newest development in the MUN circuit, Udit is not afraid to make his perspective known, whether it be regarding the latest development in Venezuela or his vehement distaste of Mike’s retreat from Suits. His passion and investment in APLMUN’s success is immeasurable, having witnessed it from close to its origins and tirelessly enriching it with his ability and enthusiasm. With 16 MUNs and numerous awards behind him, there’s yet another to look forward to, and APLMUN 2019 will certainly thrive under his extensive guidance and boundless knowledge.
Niranjan Rajesh, having been to 13 international MUNs in Shanghai and following his invitation to speak at the Global Young Leaders’ Summit in New York, is arguably the best person for the job of Director General at this year’s APLMUN. His calm, organised disposition (and a healthy amount of management skill) makes him well-equipped for the demands of APLMUN, but his confidence does indeed precede him; his involvement will surely catapult APLMUN to further success.
Head of Organising Committee
Pranav Ponnivalavan is the textbook definition of an all-rounder, having been to multiple seminars, a talented programmer, and a national tennis player. Pranav is a zealous orator, having spoken at Kyoto University regarding the role of AI in recycling: the first international student to do so. He adores debating and can frequently be spotted at them. APLMUN 2019 will be his ninth MUN, and his passion and drive will no doubt make sure that APLMUN lives up to the high expectations that precede it.
Head of Administration
A determined and hardworking young woman, Tanya Napoleon has been an admin at APLMUN for 3 years and was the deputy head of admin during the 2018 session. Tanya is a seasoned debater which explains her desire to be a lawyer in the future. Having attended summer school for law at the prestigious University of Cambridge, Tanya definitely never pulls her punches, and her presence on the OC as the Head of Admin will certainly be a valuable one.
Dep. Head of Administration
Sun Woo Hyun is the pinnacle of vivacity, known for her exuberant sense of humour and her cheery disposition. However, she is a force to be reckoned with: her diligence and resolute attitude embolsters an already impressive resume. Sun Woo is a talented organiser, working as the current treasurer of the Girl Up Club at APL. Her previous experience as an admin, as a delegate, and as a valuable part of IPC have more than enabled her to be the perfect candidate for this year’s Deputy Head of Admin.
